Hackers are doing a great job and we have to disclose this fact. Numbers are proving the same. Hundreds of millions of email addresses and different types of personal information are reaching the hands of Russian hackers very easily. Worldwide internet users are concerned about their safety as Hold Security reveals that most of the stolen data is personal. But there are some easy tricks which can help you protect yourself from hackers:

1.  Always assume that your personal information can be an easy target for any hacker anytime. It’s not always necessary that attacks will come in large size only but you should always remember that similar type cyber attacks are possible all the time. A tool has been created by Hold Security to know if someone’s records have been stolen, though the tool is not yet ready to use. At this point of time every individual user should ensure his/her online security on their own.

2.  Always change passwords, particularly for those sites which contain secret personal information like credit card details, financial data or health policies. Also make sure same password is not used for multiple sites.

3.  Stronger passwords will always be of great help and to create the same take help from password managers like LastPass or Password Safe. A unique password will be created for each website and all those passwords will be stored in a database which will be protected by a master password. If you create your own password then make sure you don’t use any dictionary word for the same. Even if a word is created with symbols and numbers, it can also get easily cracked by hackers. Strongest passwords should eb created for those valuable sites which contain the most important confidential data and these passwords shouldn’t be reused anywhere.

4.  Even passwords are also not enough to maintain online security. If any site is offering two-fold verification system then it must be enabled. By doing the same, once we enter a password, a text message follows with a one-time code and then only one ocan log in. This two-step authentication process is followed by most bank sites and major ones like Google and Apple. In some cases if you are logging in from a new device then only this authentication is required.

5.  Financial records should be monitored regularly. It helps in minimising the possibility of damage even if someone gets access to the same.
