Danfoss Hall Of Fame Increases Awareness On Energy Efficiency In Mumbai

A joint initiative between Danfoss and ISHRAE, Hall of Fame aims to promote urban efficiency and sensitise stakeholders on the need for energy efficient interventions

Hall of Fame roadshow, an initiative by Danfoss India, a Danish company that engineers technologies for a better tomorrow, was held today in Mumbai today. The Hall of Fame roadshow is aimed at increasindanfoss-logo1g participation for Hall of Fame 2017 which is a joint initiative with Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) to recognize excellence achieved in conserving energy by commercial buildings in the country.

One of the leading industrial hubs in the country, about 70% of Maharashtra’s industrial revenue is generated from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad districts making it imperative for these cities to look at innovative energy efficient interventions to not just reduce energy consumption but also optimise productivity through process efficiency.

Energy efficient interventions having the potential to save significant amount of energy must be utilised to meet the rising demand for power. Hall of Fame roadshow is aimed at sensitising and educating architects, consultants and engineers on the need for these energy efficient interventions in commercial buildings. This recognition aims to encourage energy efficiency among stakeholders and to showcase success stories in the HVAC space which have the potential to be replicated across India.

Previously, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) project received the honour of being the first organisation to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at ACREX 2016, one of India’s largest industry exhibitions.

Based on selection criteria that include Energy Performance Index, Indoor Environment Quality initiatives, Energy Saving Initiatives including Renewable Energy, Building Management System and one-year operational data, the inductee/s will be announced in February 2017 at ACREX, New Delhi.

“As a financial capital that is in need of electricity at all times, it is imperative that Mumbai looks at alternatives to manage the huge energy demand. Hall of fame encourages cities to compete on energy efficiency and raises the bar for energy efficient commercial buildings nationwide. Mumbai International Airport was inducted into the ACREX Hall of Fame and that has set precedence for strong contenders for the recognition from Mumbai this year, “said Mr. Ravichandran Purushothaman, President, Danfoss India. “ACREX Hall of Fame recognizes cutting edge energy efficient interventions that organizations have adopted to meet their objectives, setting an example for others to replicate the same sustainable solutions,” he added.
