ASUS Zenfone 4 Gets Android 4.4 KitKat Update!

ASUS has announced that it has released a firmware update upgrading the Zenfone 4 to Android 4.4 KitKat. The update brings a host of new features to the device. It brings updates in ZenUI, log system, phone and messaging features, Camera and photo editing and in numerous other applications.

It also supports full dual  standby with two SIM cards  (applies to dual SIM models  only) and a special Do Not  Disturb mode.

The detailed change in log system has also been rendered to the device. This includes an introduction of ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode and customizable applications in Quick Tool Box. Its Extended Easy Mode will have the Contacts, Call Log, Dialer and Messaging apps adapt for improved readability in Easy Mode. The extended ASUS ZenUI Launcher will now have the missed calls, unread e-mails and unread messages from VIP contacts now be displayed.

The camera and photo editing will now provide an option to automatically enable Image Stabilization when hand shaking is detected and Filter effects for videos. The device also has enhanced display now in landscape mode on phones and tablets and has addedMicroFilm feature wherein users can add video rotation function.

Zenfone users can now have Data Transfer – Data migration assistance to easily transfer user data from other mobile devices to Zen Devices with additional PC Link and Remote Link. They will also have an Omlet Chat with added “Bbbler Actors” emoticons. FM Radio will now auto scan local radio stations, manual frequency input, added support for– Program Service & Radio Text of RDS”.

Other new functionalities will include support for 24-hour format, User-adjustable widget transparency, Swipe to skip cards and Quick Action Button to what’s next notification. It is worth mentioning here that ASUS presently has 4 variants of smartphones in the Zenfone Series.
