Asus Zenfone 3 Series Handsets To Launch At Computex 2016

The third generation of smartphones under Asus’ Zenfone Asus-ZenFone-3-Series (1)series has been rumoured since last year. The upcoming handsets even leaked in some images, but without any extra details. The Taiwanese company too, has kept mum regarding the release of upcoming Zenfone 3 family.

Not anymore, as the company has finally started teasing its announced handsets a few weeks ahead of this year’s Computex Taipei conference.

Asus has released a 30-second video teasing three of its smartphones, which are most likely to be a part of its Zenfone 3 line-up. According to the video, the company will be revealing the smartphones on May 30. For now, the only information revealed by the teaser is the launch date and that there will be 3 smartphones in the line-up.

Out of the three devices, two are said to be Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe, while the third might be called Zenfone 3 Max.

Asus CEO Jerry Shen has already said to media outlets that the upcoming Zenfone 3 smartphones will be targeted at the mid-range segment. He further said that Zenfone 3 Max will account for two-third of the total shipments of all the three devices. 90% of Zenfone 3 smartphones will be featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, while the remaining 10% will come with MediaTek processors. As for the availability, Shen said the Zenfone 3 smartphones will be available in 6 countries by August.

We have already seen Zenfone 3 smartphones going by the codenames Z010DD and Z012D while appearing in benchmark listings. As per the listing, the Z010DD features a 5.9-inch HD resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, 12MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 3GB RAM, and 32GB of in-built storage.

On the other hand, the Z012D comes with a smaller 5.5-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB of on-board storage. The Zenfone 3 handsets are also likely to feature USB Type-C ports and fingerprint sensors.
