AMD Appoints David Kwon as VP for Asia Pacific-Japan Region

AMD announced that David Kwon, currently president of AMD Korea and general manager of Global Strategic Samsung and Toshiba, has been appointed managing director and corporate vice president of the Asia Pacific-Japan (APJ) Mega Region, effective immediately. Kwon will report to senior vice president and chief sales officer John Byrne. In this role, Kwon is responsible for AMD’s operations and sales across the APJ region, representing eleven countries including Korea, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

With more than 25 years of strategic sales, marketing, consulting and management experience, Kwon brings a proven track record of leadership and global business performance as demonstrated during the past two years managing the growth of AMD’s global business with Samsung and Toshiba.

“David has done an outstanding job, driving end-to-end accountability with a focus on helping ensure AMD-powered Samsung and Toshiba products win in the marketplace,” said John Byrne, chief sales officer and senior vice president of AMD. “I look forward to seeing him extend his track record of success across the region.”

Kwon will focus on continuing to strengthen AMD’s component channel business, build on the ongoing success of AMD’s consumer notebook and desktop business, establish a firm foothold for commercial business growth, and further strengthen AMD’s business with key customers across the APJ Mega-Region.

Before joining AMD, Kwon spent more than 10 years at Dell where he held various roles including senior director of regional alliance marketing for large enterprises, APJ and GC, executive director of sales in Global and Public Accounts, and global account manager for U.S. Federal Defense, Intelligence and Civilian Organization.
