Amazon claims To Be India’s biggest E-tailer In 2015

Amazon has come about to be the biggest online e-amazoncommerce platform in India over the year. It has added more than 55,000 new products to its inventory daily as per the company’s statement. It was also ranked as the site with most hits by comScore with nearly 70 per cent of its traffic emerging from mobiles.

According to Amit Agarwal, vice president and country manager of Amazon India, “The year 2015 has been another great year for us and we are humbled by the response received from both, the customers as well as sellers. We saw 250 percent growth in our seller base and emerged as the most visited site twice this year. We also received 65% orders from tier 2 cities and below and 70% of our traffic came from mobile. We believe our focus on working backwards from customer needs and innovating on the three things that matter to customers — selection, low prices and convenience — is paying us rich dividends.”

Amazon has also increased the capacity of its fulfilment centres three times in comparison to past year. Many other factors like addition of Sunday and morning delivery to its present delivery services, the service partner programme, global selling programmes for sellers and rural distribution centres have also played a major in boosting Amazon’s position in India over the year.
