Amazon has announced a massive update to its mobile application by launching eight advanced, AI-powered visual search tools designed to make product discovery entirely seamless. Rolling out to Android and iOS users in the United States, the suite uses cutting-edge generative AI, computer vision, and machine learning to help shoppers locate items through natural descriptions, images, and real-world scanning, eliminating the need for precise keyword queries.
A major feature of the update is a real-time AI image generator integrated directly into the search bar. As users input descriptive details regarding colors, patterns, or textures, the app instantly materializes “AI image” previews that update dynamically with every typed word. Users can simply select the generated image that matches their imagination to immediately pull up visually similar, purchasable products on the platform. This capability is currently live for fashion, apparel, and home decor categories.
Additionally, Amazon is introducing a “Shop by Style” section that curates shoppable outfit collages based on aesthetic themes like “Urban Luxe” or “Soft Elegance.” The update also brings a major overhaul to Amazon Lens via “Lens Live”—a real-time camera search tool that continuously identifies items through the viewfinder and displays matching alternatives in a swipeable carousel. This interface integrates Amazon’s AI shopping assistant, allowing users to ask contextual questions, review product summaries, and add items to their digital carts without ever exiting the camera screen. Other additions include a “Circle to Search” tool to isolate objects within a photo, text-based modifiers for uploaded images, and an iOS lock-screen widget for instant visual scanning.
