Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ shown in images, specifications revealed ahead of MWC 2018 launch

Samsung is almost ready to unveil its Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ smartphones on February 25 at pre-MWC 2018 conference. We have already heard about them in rumours and from the company officials as well. Now, a smartphone tipster Evan Blass, has revealed what can be said as the clearest look of the Galaxy S9 handsets till date. Besides revealing them in a couple of images, Blass also talks about the specifications.

The image shows the duo from the front and back. From the looks of it, the design stays nearly the same as the Galaxy S8 and the S8+, except for the rear camera placement. The rear camera setup is the only major change in the design. The Galaxy S9 will have the fingerprint sensor placed below the single rear camera. The Galaxy S9+, has dual vertically aligned cameras with the fingerprint sensor below them.
The image shows the handsets in Lilac Purple colour variant. The tipster, however, adds that they will also arrive in Midnight Black, Titanium Gray and Coral Blue.

The Galaxy S9 is said to sport a 5.8-inch AMOLED QHD resolution display, while the S9+ will feature the same 6.2-inch screen with same specs. Powering the smartphone will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. In select countries, this may be replaced by the company’s home-baked Exynos 9810 processor.
The RAM and storage capacities will be different in both. The S9 may pack 4GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage, while the S9+ could boast 6GB RAM with 128GB inbuilt space.
New camera features are said to debut with the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+. One of them could be the ‘super slow-mo’ video recording, which means HD resolution video at 480fps.

Both will have 12MP rear cameras with mechanical adjusting apertures between f/2.4 and f/1.5. The S9+’s secondary rear camera will also have a 12MP rear sensor. At the front, both will feature an 8MP camera module.

The front-facing dual stereo speakers may be a welcome change for the fans.
Although to be launched on February 25, the handsets could hit the shelves in countries as early as March 16.
