2013 Google India PhD Fellowships – Supporting the Future of Computer Science in India

GoogleGoogle India announced the names of awardees for this year’s Google India PhD Fellowships.

The Google India PhD Fellowship Program wasΒ  created to support and recognize outstanding students pursuing PhD level studies in Computer Science and related areas. Following students have been awarded the scholarship this year.

  • Abir De, Google India Fellowship in Social Computing (Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur)
  • Debarghya Ghoshdastidar, Google India Fellowship in Statistical Learning Theory (Indian Institute of Science)
  • Shahbaz Khan, Google India Fellowship in Algorithms (Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur)
  • Harikrishna Narasimhan, Google India Fellowship in Machine Learning (Indian Institute of Science)
  • Rajvi Shah, Google India Fellowship in Computer Vision (International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad)
The fellowship recipients will be supported for a maximum period of four years with a monthly fellowship, a contingency grant for expenses like books, stationery etc and a travel grant for both the recipient and his/her advisor(s) for attending conferences.
Each fellowship recipient will be assigned a Google Sponsor who will mentor the PhD fellow over the research period. Engagement with the Google Sponsor will include discussions on research direction and progress updates.
