Working closely with the Manipal University Hospital in Manipal, India, Xerox is testing the feasibility of using video cameras to monitor patient vital signs. Dr. Vijay Kumar, professor and head of Pediatric Surgery in Manipal University and a research assistant monitor the cameras that are picking up vital signs of an infant in the neonatal unit. Using patented software algorithms, Xerox scientists have been able to convert data collected by the cameras into vital signs.
