ZTE has announced that the release of the Nubia Z9 Max smartphone has been delayed in launch country China.

The smartphone was scheduled to go on sale starting Thursday in the firm’s home turf; but then the company via its official Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter) account announced a delay on Wednesday. The company on its Weibo post blamed the Nubia Z9 Max’s complex manufacturing process for the launch delay. ZTE’s Weibo post (via GizmoChina) reads, “The device uses a double glass and aluminium body. It is processed through CNC machining and other complex processes, which requires a lot of time.”

ZTE last month unveiled the new Nubia series smartphones, the Nubia Z9 Max and Nubia Z9 Mini, in China. While the ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini, priced at CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs. 15,000), already went on sale at the beginning of this month; the ZTE Nubia Max priced at CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 25,000) is now likely to go on sale only next month.

The Nubia Z9 Max is the company’s first smartphone that is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with the Nubia UI 2.8 skin on top, and features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection while offering a pixel density of 401ppi.

It is powered by an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor (quad-core 2GHz + quad-core 1.5GHz) coupled with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM. There is 16GB of built-in storage that’s further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).

The Nubia Z9 Max supports dual Nano-SIMs and sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Sony IMX234 Exmor RS sensor and f/2.0 aperture. There is an 8-megapixel front camera onboard as well, with a f/2.4 aperture. Connectivity options on the handset include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, MHL 3.0, USB OTG, Micro-USB, 3G, and 4G LTE.
