ZipGo Launches “women-only bus service”

ZipGo, an on-demand transportation company, formally unnamedlaunched its membership based “women-only bus service” for Gurgaon and National Capital Region.

The ZipGo women-only service was flagged off by Mr. Navdeep Singh Virk, Commissioner of Police (CP), Gurgaon and Mr. Saurabh Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), Gurgaon at an event at the Pllazio Hotel in Gurgaon.

ZipGo will be operating a smartphone-based on-demand fleet of 100 vehicles covering all of Gurgaon with routes connecting Gurgaon to Faridabad, Manesar, Dwarka and part of South Delhi. ZipGo fleet will have the capacity of carrying 10,000 passengers every day which can help take up to 10,000 personal vehicles off the roads of Delhi and Gurgaon, thereby helping reduce traffic congestion and pollution.

“Women safety and traffic are perhaps the biggest every day concerns forcitizens and police alike. ZipGo addresses both these challenges with an innovative, technology based approach. Hence, we are delighted to launch ZipGo services in Gurgaon. I strongly believe that this service will not only ease commuting for women but also help in making a difference to traffic situation in the city. We congratulate ZipGo on their launchtoday.” said Mr. Neeraj Virk, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon.

Speaking about the need for a bus service for women, Co-founder Jitender Sharma stated, “ZipGo’s mission is to provide a reliable, comfortable and air-conditioned mass transportation option for daily commute and help reduce the usage of personal vehicles. Every morning and evening, millions of women in Delhi NCR spend an average of 2 hours to get to work or get back home. This daily commute is perhaps the most stressful part of their everyday life. We want to replace that stress with the comfort of a door-to-door commute option at a fraction of the cost of a taxi or driving one’s own car, and thus enable our members and their families to live a healthier and happier life”.

Jitender also added that “Commuters avoid buses due to the lack of clean, comfortable vehicles; inconvenient routes or stops and overcrowding. Longer journey time is another big reason people do not use buses. Using crowd-sourced routes, timings and stops; taking the shortest direct non-stop route; providing clean, comfortable AC buses with guaranteed seats solves all those problems and allows ZipGo to provide an unnamedbut at one-fourth the prices of a taxi.

But the biggest value proposition is the peace of mind, comfort and relaxation that comes from knowing that all your co-passengers are women. With introductory prices starting from just Rs. 29 per ride, we are also the most economical option for a hassle-free daily commute. We are already witnessing a great response for our introductory routes as our service is encouraging people to leave their vehicles at home and opt for ZipGo. We have also integrated the PayTM wallet to provide the convenience of cashless transactions”.

“With ZipGo, our endeavor is to make women travel easy and hassle free in Gurgaon and subsequently in the whole of Delhi NCR. Also, shared transportation is the best option to deal
with the growing traffic and pollution problem in our cities. Hence, we are very grateful to the Gurgaon administration including the Mr. Navdeep Singh Virk, CP, and Mr. Saurabh Singh, JCP, to extend their support, guidance and advice on how to tailor our service for women-commuters including the suggestion to install CCTV cameras and registration of the drivers at the local police station.” added Jitender.

As an introductory offer, ZipGo is offering Rs. 250/- worth of free rides for new users upon registration and Rs. 250/- worth of referral amount for each successful referral. New users can also avail up to 100% bonus on recharges with the PayTM wallet.

How it works:

ZipGo smartphone app for Android phones and Apple iPhone allows the ZipGo members to search for buses to a particular destination, book a seat on the desired bus and track the bus on a smartphone or computer. This allows commuters to wait in the comfort of their home or office, rather than on the street, and still be assured of a guaranteed seat in a clean, air-conditioned, uncrowded bus at a very economical price.

Users can download the ZipGo app from Google Play or Apple iTunes store (links below). After installing the app and registering using a mobile number, users can search for a boarding point and destination. The app displays all the relevant and available buses which connect the boarding point and destination. The user can then select a particular bus and use the pre-paid in-app digital wallet to pay for the reservation. Once the reservation is confirmed, users get the details of their bus and can track it in the ZipGo app and reach the boarding point just in time to board their bus. ZipGo does not accept cash and all the reservations have to be pre-booked before the start time of the bus.
