Google is rolling out an update for its YouTube app on Android. The update introduces a revamped UI design, relocating the navigation bar to the bottom of the app.
According to a report by Android Police website , the update is a server-side one. Apart from the above mentioned change to the navigation bar’s position, its background colour has also been changed from Red to White.
The update is rolling out in waves, so it might take some time before all users receive it.
Back in the month of June, YouTube rolled out a new feature. Dubbed ‘Smart Offline,’ the feature lets users download videos at cheaper night time data rates offered by mobile operators in India.
“We are beginning to roll out a feature called Smart Offline on YouTube that lets you take advantage of the cheaper data rates as offered by your mobile operator, without requiring you to stay up late at night,” Google wrote on its India blog.
When a user taps on the grey arrow to download a video offline, a prompt will appear, giving him/her the option to save the video overnight using the mobile operator’s discounted night data plan.
When the user selects the option, YouTube will smartly schedule the video to be downloaded offline during off-peak hours that night.
The video will be ready to watch offline and on the go, with no buffering the next morning, the company said.
