Chinese handset maker Xiaomi Tuesday again sold within a few seconds all of its 20,000 handsets which were offered through a flash sale on Flipkart.Including this week’s sale, Xiaomi has sold 95,000 smartphones in the country through six flashes sales. Similar to past flash sales, over 100,000 people had registered for this week’s the sale.
The company had started with 10,000 smartphones in the first lot and moved up to 20,000 in consecutive rounds, considering the huge demand. The next sale will begin on September 2, for which registrations will begin at 6 pm today.
Flipkart’s website went down several times due to the high traffic due to flash sales in the past. Far fewer glitches were reported this time as Flipkart had improved resources to support larger number of users on the site at the same time, which is a norm during the flash sales.
Xiaomi has also launched Redmi 1S smartphone in the country, and priced it aggressively at Rs 5,999. Just like Mi 3, this smartphone will be exclusively available via e-commerce website Flipkart through flash sale model on September 2.
