Xiaomi Mi Max Smartphone To Launch With MIUI 8 OS

Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi Max smartphone featuring a 6.4-Xiaomiinch screen will run the new MIUI 8 interface based on Android Marshmallow operating system. The Mi Max smartphone along with MIUI 8 will be launched in Beijing on May 8. The company had rolled out its MIUI 7 update to its smartphones in India in October last year.

“MIUI 8, a new big update of Mi phones’ operating system, will be launched on May 10. Evolving from the first version in 2010, MIUI has served as the operating system for over 150 million across the globe. I am sure all of your devices have updated to the latest version of MIUI 7, no matter you are using stable or developer ROMs,” according to an official blog post by the company.

Xiaomi gave a glimpse of its MIUI 8 in a short YouTube video showcasing the new integrated notification bar. The new interface seems to be continuing with same icon designs available on the MIUI 7. Also, the shortcuts panel appears to be inspired by Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

The upcoming Mi Max smartphone will reportedly look similar to the Mi 5. Also, the MIUI 8 demo video shows off a Mi 5-like device. It could be possible that the smartphone used in the video is the Mi Max.

It is still early to comment whether the smartphone would be introduced in India or not. The specs are expected to be similar to the Mi 5 which runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

Xiaomi had decided to name its 6.4-inch smartphone as Mi Max after an online poll.
