Microsoft Xbox One UpdatedMicrosoft’s next-generation console, the Xbox One, is all set to receive a system software or Dashboard update on Monday, its fourth public update since launch day. The company has been beta-testing the new features since late-March with select members of Xbox Live.

In his blog, on Monday, Larry Hryb, the Director of Programming for Xbox Live, or more commonly recognized by his gamertag ‘Major Nelson’, said the update starts ‘rolling out tonight’, which translates sometime during Tuesday in India.

Major Nelson gave a breakdown of all the features that users can expect to be updated. The biggest of these, is that gamers will be able to check the status of games saves. Additionally, keeping track of game and app updates will become easier. An oft requested feature – on-screen notifications when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live – has also been added. Kinect 2.0 is being fine-tuned for quality and reliability of Xbox One commands.

Microsoft has also improved the video quality of GameDVR and the Blu-ray player now supports 50Hz video output for content recorded at 50Hz. Updates to the firmware of the controller and headset is expected to reduce audio static and improve wireless connectivity. If the Xbox One is in the Instant On mode, it will update automatically and return to standby mode upon completion. Microsoft is calling this mode a silent reboot. From the next update onwards, users will have the ability to update the Xbox One manually bypassing the automatic procedure.

Hyrb mentioned how Microsoft is planning to expand the list of previewing Xbox Live members in the coming months with a different update,.

The Microsoft Xbox One is yet to hit shelves in India, and is expected to get retail availability starting September 2014 along with 25 other countries.

Microsoft in early March released its last major public Xbox One Dashboard update, which brought Twitch live streaming support, improved multiplayer & party chat, improved friends list + profile, new social features, miscellaneous shell improvements, browser improvements, improved audio output support, as well as SmartGlass and Live TV improvements.
