Microsoft has confirmed that players will now be able to play as they download their games on Xbox one. The feature is similar to Sony’s Playstation 4.
The development was confirmed by Microsoft today, when the company spokespeople told tech analysts at Polygon and Engadget that once “a fraction of the entire game” has been downloaded, Xbox One owners will be able to “jump into the action” while the rest of the title downloads in the background.
The move comes at a time when both Sony and Xbox, which between themselves control almost the entire console gaming market the world over, have promised some cool new features that will work on the cloud. As of now, say tech analysts, the play-as-you-download isn’t as difficult a technology as it was initially being made out to be.
