Social media network X is actively reforming its monetization framework to protect intellectual property. By leveraging the latest version of its proprietary Grok AI, the platform has successfully accelerated its ability to locate and penalize unoriginal text and video content.
Monetization Redirection and Plagiarism Detection
Historically, accounts utilizing engagement bait or uncredited content could easily monetize the impressions generated by other users’ creations. Under the newly implemented guidelines, Grok can isolate duplicate text, viral clips, and uncredited footage three times faster than previous iteration metrics. Notably, the system is advanced enough to flag content that has been structurally altered with watermarks or introductory edits to avoid automated detection.
Rather than simply deleting the offending posts, X automatically reroutes all financial yields from the monetized impressions straight to the primary owner of the asset. The initial application of this technology has already identified approximately 1.5 million plagiarized posts, prompting X to redistribute over $1 million in creator payouts back to their rightful owners.
Stricter Penalties for Artificial Engagement
Beyond outright content theft, X is imposing zero-tolerance measures on accounts using artificial interaction loops to boost their standing. Tactics such as “follow-for-follow” threads or replies crafted solely to inflate baseline metrics are heavily targeted. If an account is caught broadcasting engagement bait three or more times, it faces immediate expulsion from the platform’s revenue-sharing program, alongside an account review by the policy team for a permanent suspension.
To offset the temptation to repost outside media, X recently expanded its native toolkit with robust in-app recording and editing features. This push mirrors broader automated moderation shifts across networks like Instagram and Reddit, signaling a collective industry shift toward platform ecosystems that reward authentic originators.
