WhatsApp introduces a function to filter message reactions for channels

WhatsApp, which recently introduced its Channels feature in India, has now commenced the rollout of a new message reaction filtering feature for these channels. According to WABteaInfo, a source that reported this development, the feature has been launched for iOS beta testers under the updated version 2.23.23.71.

The filtering function aims to assist channel administrators in identifying which of their contacts have reacted to channel updates. This feature enables admins to view individual reactions from their contacts, providing insights into their audience’s responses to the shared content. It is emphasized that only the channel admins have access to this information, maintaining the privacy of users’ reactions.

In addition to this update, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is reportedly working on a new feature that allows users to conceal locked chats. Presently, even though chats are secured, the entry point to these conversations remains visible in the chat list. The upcoming feature is intended to address this issue by enabling users to hide the entry point of locked chats, unveiling them only when a secret code is entered in the search bar. This change will offer an added layer of privacy to protect sensitive chats from being exposed.

The primary motive behind these developments is to provide enhanced insights for channel admins and ensure an additional level of privacy and security for users with locked chats.
