Vebbler India’s fastest-growing homegrown personal networking platform, announced the launch of its new election campaign, “The Ungli Campaign”. This new feature on Vebbler will engage the Indian youth in quality conversations on various topics surrounding the upcoming election and encourage them to go vote. Marking the Ungli campaign, Vebbler has also collaborated with the Band of Boys and launched a catchy up-beat song called the ‘Ungli Song’  Their joint initiative has also helped garner support from renowned celebrities such as  Arbaaz Khan, Sonu Sood, Ritesh Sidwani, Mini Mathur, Esha Deol, Prachi Desai, Kritika Kamra, Pooja Bedi amongst others.

 

Talking about the launch of the Ungli Campaign, Mr. Sahil Bhagat, Founder of Vebbler said, “Being an Indian social media platform, Vebbler aims to be an integral part of the social fabric of the country by building tools and features that engage the youth. Hence for this upcoming election, we have launched a dedicated microsite http://ungli.net that aims to become a one stop online portal for all news and information regarding the Indian elections. People can follow election related topics, join discussion forums, engage with polling booths as well as find out their polling booth location. In order to get more like-minded people to have meaningful discussions, we have NOT restricted the access to only Vebbler users. People from other social media platforms can also access the site with their existing username and password. The idea is to make a difference to at least 1 million voters this year through this campaign.”.  He further added, “To connect with the mass we have also launched a tongue-in cheek music video, based on the Ungli campaign, called the Ungli song. We have collaborated with the Band of Boys for the song,along with other known Bollywood celebrities”. 

 

 

 

“When Sahil approached us and explained us the concept, we found it very interesting and unique and decided to collaborate with Vebbler’s Ungli campaign. The Band of Boys conceptualised a very tongue-in cheek and catchy song that the youth relate to, and essentially what The Band of Boys stand for, called The Ungli Song. The song is such that it will hook into the mind of the listeners immediately. The lyrics are a satirical dig at the recent political faux-pas like connecting rape with eating chowmein, the fun in riding on roads full of potholes. Like the campaign the song urges you to not sit back and tolerate what the government doles at you, but to go and Vote and bring about the change or else you might have to settle for an ‘Ungli’ ”, said Sudhanshu Pandey, now a part of A Band of Boys”, said Sudhanshu Pandey, now a part of A Band of Boys

“Vebbler’s Ungli song also marks the comeback of the Band of Boys along with Sudhanshu. We have Shibani Kashyap joining the band as part of this Ungli Song. It was great fun connecting with old pals and working on the song. We are sure everyone is going to love it”, shared Karan Oberoi.

 

Vebbler’s Ungli campaign microsite, “http://ungli.net” comprises of four core sections. It includes discussion forums and polls to engage the youth of the India into conversations, page for people to check the names and profiles of candidates standing in their constituencies, official parties and their profiles and media content to help people gain insight into the upcoming elections.
