china alibaba logoUCWeb, the firm better known for its popular mobile browser, UC Browser, has launched UC Browser for PC in the Chinese market. For now however, the company has no immediate plans to create an English or multi-language version of the browser. The firm states the browser is similar to its mobile counterpart, in that it boasts of being speedy.

UC Browser for PC, also known as UCWeb PC Browser, also speaks boasts of a number of mobile-inspired features, like predicting the user’s search, preloading pages in advance and compressing them from the server side so that it helps in faster page downloads.

Some of the other key features included in the PC Browser are multi-screen interoperations for sharing various files and syncing different content among different UC Browser installed devices. The PC Browser also comes with third-party plugins for music streaming and other functionalities.

In a statement, He Xiaopeng, UCWeb’s co-founder and president, stated that he wants to “disrupt the staid PC browser market in an unprecedented way”, via The Next Web.

Moreover, it is being said that UCWeb’s PC Browser is a joint effort with Alibaba, a group of e-commerce businesses, and integrates its online shopping websites – Taobao and Tmall.

UCWeb last month claimed UC Browser had surpassed the 500 million quarterly active users mark, making it the largest third-party mobile browser by user base. It also noted that out of the browser’s 500 million quarterly active users, 300 million use an Android device, with India and China comprising the browser’s major chunk of users.

To celebrate the milestone, UCWeb launched a new brand mascot. UCWeb claims it has been redesigned to “better embody the faster and smarter web experience UC Browser delivers to its users.”
