Twitter To Find A New Job For Its Users?

twitter wallAccording to a study by the Pew Research Centre, there has been a rapid increase in the number of Twitter users. In fact, the number of Twitter users has grown faster than LinkedIn and Facebook in the previous year. It further revealed that Twitter has more job seekers than LinkedIn and more job openings than other social media sites.

While only 15 per cent of employers have found someone to recruit through Twitter; experts suggest that Twitter can help more job-seekers than any other traditional platform if it incorporates a formal job board.

Currently, a user can find a suitable job by following specific companies or by searching via hashtags, related to jobs and companies.

However, a search for the hashtag #jobsearch can give results which may not be related to actual jobs. The process of finding an appropriate job may further become more time consuming, as new tweets appear after every few seconds. To overcome this, Twitter may aggregate job postings, making it easy for users to view jobs by different parameters such as functional area, industry, region etc.
