TÜV Rheinland Launches New Wireless Testing System At Bengaluru facility

Wireless products can now be tested in India to confirm compliance of the new European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) EN 300328v1. 8. 1 standard for the European Market effective 1st January, 2015.

Germany based TÜV Rheinland, a worldwide leader in Testing, Training, Thomas Fuhrmann Inspection, Consulting and Certification, has announced that it has launched a new Wireless Testing System at its Bengaluru facility. TUV Rheinland can now test wireless products in India to confirm compliance of the new ETSI EN 300328v1. 8. 1 standard effective1st January, 2015 for the European Market.

This new wireless testing system will add to the existing state-of-the-art 100,000 sq. ft. of TUV Rheinland’s laboratories in India, which includes 10 Meter anechoic chamber, SAR testing facilities, PV testing facilities and eventually make TUV Rheinland India, a self-sufficient one stop shop to offer a wide range of testing and certification services to help manufacturers and exporters access global markets.

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) will be implementing a new set of compliance standards (ETSI EN 300328v1. 8. 1) for 2.4 GHz wireless products, effective 1st January, 2015. These changes were made to address the problems created by the huge number of wireless products operating at this band over the past many years. Examples would include products that have wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, WLAN and other proprietary protocols in 2.4/ 5GHz ISM frequency bands.

The new standards have redefined many of the test procedures and types of measurements required which calls for specialised capabilities and test equipments. TUV Rheinland’s new testing system has all the equipments and capabilities required in order to complete the certification of this new standard.

“With the introduction of this test system, TUV Rheinland India has become the only laboratory in India and one of the very few globally to facilitate these tests.” said Mr Thomas Fuhrmann, CEO and MD of TUV Rheinland India. “The growing demand in smart wireless device application in the domestic market along with the enormous potential in design and development of these technologies, has created a need to invest in such testing facilities and this will help us in penetrating deeper into these technologies which is the need of the hour.”

“Compliance can be achieved to Radio and Telecom Terminal Equipment (R&TTE) for European Union norms, in turn CE marking and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Industry Canada (IC) certifications for North American market. Compliance to Indian requirements laid down by WPS (Wireless Planning & Co-ordination Wing) will also be possible with these facilities.” said Mr. Kalyan Varma, Vice President, Business Stream Products, TÜV Rheinland India.
