TÜV Rheinland India, a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland Group, Germany, a worldwide leader in Testing, Training, Thomas Fuhrmann_CEO & MD of TUV Rheinland India (1)Inspection, Consulting & Certification, announced that it has signed an MoU with The National Telecom Regulatory Authority, Egypt (NTRA).All telecom products which are exported from India to Egypt need a Verification of Compliance and Pre-Shipment certificate which is to be issued by TUV Rheinland, as set by the NTRA in their new set of norms. With this MoU, TUV Rheinland India can now offer certification services to all telecom products which are going to be exported from India to Egypt.

NTRA is an independent and prudent arbiter among the different stakeholders in the sector, the industry, the state, and the consumer, that was established with a mission to become an active pace maker within the telecom sector. It aims at building a healthy and cooperative win-win relationship with specific internationally-accredited test labs in India with an objective to facilitate the various compliance processes for importers as well as ensure standardized quality products in the Egyptian market.

In year 2015, NTRA decided to select three International reputable test labs in India to be the NTRA accredited test labs with an aim to regulate the local Egyptian telecom equipment market with regard to the Indian origin telecom equipment.

“NTRA sees a lot of exports coming in from India into the Egyptian market and wants to ensure the highest standard from incoming products as per the International norms and certification. Regulations are put in place with immediate effect. The norms are based on EU directives to ensure highest product standards and safety for telecom products which are entering the Indian market”, said Mr. Thomas Fuhrmann, CEO & Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India. “The selection of TUV Rheinland by NTRA as their testing and certification partner in India is based on our solid strengths in testing and inspection and rich experience in certification especially in the field of Telecom & IT equipment, as well as a commitment to impartiality and independence.”

NTRA has issued a set of rules and specifications for telecom equipment to be introduced in the Egyptian market. Equipment is considered approved once it is found to be complying with the conformity forms set for each type. All forms of telecommunication equipment used in Egypt require an NTRA Type Approval Certificate. This includes terminal equipment, radio communication equipment and all indoor/outdoor, wired/wireless IT communication equipment.

The telecommunications regulatory arrangements apply to any person, business, or company that is the initial point of supply of customer telecom equipment to the Egyptian market.

The Type Approval Certificate shall be issued once, based on equipment brand & model when NTRA is satisfied that:

• The applicant complies with the Type Approval regulations
• The telecom equipment meets all relevant requirements

NTRA ensures that not only the wireless and telecom equipment comply with CE and EMC standards but also the manufacturers are ISO 9001 certified.
