This is how Intex plans to take on JioPhone

The launch of Reliance Jio Phone has certainly got other domestic smartphone manufacturers into combat mode. While Micromax is reportedly working on launching a Jio Phone rival, Lava already has one in the market. Now Intex too seems to have joined the game as it has just launched its first ever 4G feature phone along with eight other 2G feature phones. All these handsets aim to go head-to-head against the Jio Phone as all of them fall in the Rs 700-Rs 1500 price range.
Intex Turbo+ 4G is the company’s first ever feature phone with 4G VoLTE connectivity support. It runs on KaiOS, which is the same Firefox OS rip-off used by Jio Phone. Sporting a 2.4-inch QVGA display, the device is said to be powered by dual-core processor along with 512MB RAM. There will also be a 2MP rear camera along with a VGA front-facing camera. Backed by a 2000mAh battery, the Turbo+ 4G will come with 4GB inbuilt storage and can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
“Commemorating our 71st Independence Day, we wanted to upgrade feature phone users and give them the taste of a smartphone through our first Smart Feature Phone – the Turbo+ 4G. With this, feature phone users will get high voice call quality, a seamless experience of the internet and the power of connecting with the world via a mobile. Being a 20-year-old Indian company, Intex understands the needs and requirements of the consumers especially those residing in smaller towns and the hinterland. We have always strived to improve and empower lives of people through innovative consumer tech products and the Turbo 4G+ feature phone is the latest addition in our list of innovation,” said Ishita Bansal, product head – mobiles, Intex Technologies.
Other than the Turbo+ 4G, Intex has introduced eight other feature phones, all of which are divided into three series – ECO, Turbo and Ultra.
The Intex ECO series includes the ECO 102+, ECO 106+ and ECO Selfie. The ECO 102+ has a 1.8-inch QQVGA (128×160 pixels) screen and is backed by an 800mAh battery. It comes with 15KB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB. There is also a CIF camera.
The Intex ECO 106+ sports the same display and is powered by a Mediatek MT6261M processor. It can support up to 32GB expandable storage and is backed by a 1000mAh battery. It also has a rear CIF camera onboard.
The Intex ECO Selfie also sports the same display as the other two ECO series and is powered by the SC6531E processor. Backed by an 1800mAh battery, the smartphone can support up to 32GB expandable storage. This too has a CIF camera.
