The Twitter Saga Continues

After encouraging employees to commit to a “very hardcore” Twitter during an all-hands meeting, Elon Musk reportedly promised the staff members who remained that Twitter wouldn’t be firing and laying off more people. According to reports, parts of the recording of the event claims that the business is even actively hiring for positions in engineering and sales. Musk reportedly made the announcement on the same day that the company’s partnerships and sales departments experienced layoffs.

Head of advertising sales at Twitter Robin Wheeler and vice president of partnerships Maggie Suniewick reportedly lost their jobs after refusing Elon Musk’s order to lay off more workers. Naturally, they things took place after the website’s new owner-imposed layoffs that reduced the workforce by 50%.

According to The Verge, Musk said during the meeting that “people who are fantastic at creating software are the biggest priority” although he did not specify specific positions Twitter is hiring for. Employees questioned Musk about the company’s future during this all-hands meeting because it was also the first time since his takeover that he had a face-to-face with them.

In addition to answering inquiries regarding the business’s operations, Musk revealed at the discussion that Twitter might not, after all, be reintroducing paid verification before this month comes to a close. If you recall, shortly after the website’s $8 per month Blue subscription with verification was introduced, it had to be put on hold because of a sharp increase in impersonation and fraudulent accounts.

The return of Blue Verified, according to Musk, is scheduled for November 29. He has since informed staff members and made it known that Twitter won’t relaunch the subscription system until it is certain it can stop impersonation. Additionally, Twitter may eventually assign various colour checkmarks to individuals and organisations, making it clear when users are dealing with a real account from a business or organisation. Twitter currently has a grey “Official” checkmark set aside for businesses, but it appears that the social media platform intends to increase the visibility and recognizability of the signal to protect users from impersonators.
