The Google Camera app has been rebranded as the Pixel Camera on the Play Store, and Google Photos receives native support for Android 14’s share sheet

Google has rebranded its exclusive Pixel device camera app, previously known as Google Camera, as “Pixel Camera” on the Play Store. The app description now reflects this change and highlights features like Portrait, Night Sight, Time Lapse, and Cinematic Blur. The latest version, v9.0, is available for the Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel 7 Pro, with v9.1 for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. It’s important to note that the new Pixel Camera app is compatible with Pixel devices running Android 14 and above.

Additionally, Google introduced the native Android 14 share sheet for Google Photos. When users click on the share icon, a “Sharing image” sheet appears, featuring a “Modify” button in the top-right corner for selecting multiple images to share. The selected image offers a pencil icon for launching the Markup tool and a carousel with various Google Photos actions like Create Link, Send in Photos, and Add to Album. Further down, users can find Direct Share targets, including frequently used apps, and a complete grid upon scrolling up. This new share sheet is accessible on Google Photos version 5.65 for Pixel smartphones running Android 14.

Users on devices running Android 13 and older should expect no changes to the Google Photos share sheet.
