Telegram, the global messaging platform with over 1 billion users, has rolled out a feature-packed update introducing smartwatch apps for Apple Watch and Android Wear OS, AI Guardians for group moderation, advanced rich text formatting for bots, enhanced polling capabilities and new browser controls. The update brings dozens of new features and improvements designed to make Telegram more accessible, intelligent and customizable across devices.
Watch Apps for Everyone
Telegram is now available on both Apple Watch and Android Wear OS smartwatches, allowing users to stay connected directly from their wrist.
The new smartwatch apps support sending and receiving text and voice messages, listening to voice notes, viewing media and video messages, reading long chats, previewing locations and sending stickers. Users can also manage chats without needing to access their phones, making Telegram more convenient for on-the-go communication.
Rich Text Formatting for Bots
Telegram has significantly expanded formatting capabilities for bots, enabling them to deliver richer and more interactive messages.
Bots can now send content featuring inline media, carousels, collages, tables, nested blockquotes, headings, anchors, collapsible sections, footnotes, mathematical formulas, superscript and subscript formatting. In addition, bot messages can now contain up to 32,768 characters, making them ideal for detailed responses, documentation and AI-powered interactions.
Guardians Bots for Group Chats
Telegram introduces AI Guardians, allowing group administrators to assign AI-powered bots to help manage join requests and moderate communities.
AI Guardians can screen applicants through customizable workflows and mini app interfaces before granting access to a group. They can also assist moderators in enforcing community rules, helping create safer and more organized discussions.
Links in Poll Options
Polls on Telegram now support clickable links within poll options, giving creators and communities a new way to provide context, references and additional information alongside voting choices.
Support for MD Files
Telegram’s in-app browser now supports Markdown (.md) files, allowing users to open and view formatted Markdown content directly within the browser without requiring third-party applications.
Quick Browser Selection
Users now have greater flexibility over how external links are opened. In addition to choosing whether links open in the Telegram Browser or an external browser, users can now specify preferred browser behavior through customizable settings.
The update also allows users to create site-specific preferences, choosing which websites should always open within Telegram and which should always open externally. To manage your browser settings, go to Settings > Chat Settings > In-App Browser on Android or Settings > Privacy and Security > Open Links in on iOS.
