Spice Launches XLife Range of Affordable Android Smartphones in India

Spice has introduced its new XLife smartphone series in India targeting first time smartphone buyers in tier two and tier three cities. Under the new XLife series, the company has launched XLife 404 (see above) priced at Rs. 3,190; XLife 431q at Rs. 3,999; XLife 431q Lite at Rs. 3,850, and XLife 512 at Rs. 4,499.

The company has confirmed that all the four smartphones will be available via retail stores and the company’s online store.

All the newly launched Spice XLife smartphones come with dual-SIM support and run Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.

The Spice XLife 404 features 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display; 1GHz single-core processor; 256MB of RAM; 512MB of inbuilt storage; expandable storage support via microSD card (up to 32GB); a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera; 3G; Wi-Fi; Bluetooth; GPS; GPRS/ EDGE, and 1450mAh battery.

The Spice XLife 431q Lite sports a lot of the same specifications as the XLife 404. However, it also features some differences including a 1.2GHz quad-core processor; 512MB of RAM; 4GB of inbuilt storage, and a 1750mAh battery.

The Spice XLife 431q (see above), on the other hand, features nearly identical specifications as the Spice XLife 431q Lite smartphone except the former sports a 5-megapixel rear camera.

Lastly, the Spice XLife 512 features a 5-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and packs a 2000mAh battery. The rest of the specifications of the XLife 512 are the same as the Spice XLife 431q smartphone.

Commenting on the launch, Amandeep Singh, CEO, Spice Mobiles said, “After extensive market research, we observed a product gap and significant market opportunity in the sub Rs 5,000 segment of smartphones offering both technology and design. A large number of Indian consumers still use feature phones, hence there is huge upgrade potential towards smartphones and we are targeting first time users in Tier II and III cities. We are delighted to launch our new XLife series of smartphones in Rajasthan, which is one of the largest feature phone markets in India.”
