Sony launches RX0 action camera at Rs 64,990

Sony already has an impressive footprint in the camera lens and sensor market around the globe. The Japanese tech firm, which is broadly known for its ‘Alpha’ series camera, expanded its line of action cameras with the DSC-RX0 last year. Now, the particular device has debuted in India. The ultra-compact camera is claimed to have multiple key features that may influence potential buyers to pay Rs 64,990.

The RX0’s USP lies in its sensor and video-shooting abilities, says Sony. The compact camera is touted for its 1-inch Exmor RS CMOS sensor, ZEISS Tessar T 24mm lens with f4.0 aperture, anti-distortion high speed (1/32000) shutter, up to 16 fps continuous shooting and up to 960 fps slow motion video recording.

Sony is also claiming the new RX0 as a waterproof, shockproof and crush proof device, making it an ideal camera to use in the roughest of situations. It works under water up to 10 metres and can resist drops from up to 2 metres.
Sony is also offering a bunch of accessories to ‘maximise the potential’ of the DSC-Rx0 action camera. Some of the accessories included are CPT-R1 Cable Protector, VF-SPR1 Spare Lens Protector and VFA-305R1 Filter Adaptor Kit, which includes filter adaptor, lens hood and MC protector, plus the NP-BJ1 Rechargeable Battery Pack and ACC-TRDCJ Accessory Kit.

The company last week also introduced its Sony SEL18135 lens. Compatible with APS-C sensor cameras and models including the A6500, A6300 and A6000, the lens has a focal length of 18-135mm with F3.5-5.6 aperture. The lens would cost you Rs 49,990.

While Sony is expanding its camera and accessory portfolio in India, it is all set to expand its smartphone line up as well. The company is said to launch two new smartphones at MWC 2018 conference, which is scheduled to begin from February 25. The smartphones making rounds on the internet are the Xperia XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact.
