Science awards are set for a revamp with the introduction of the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar in four distinct categories

The Indian government is set to introduce the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, a new set of science awards, in four distinct categories, namely Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shri, Vigyan Yuva–Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar, and Vigyan Team, according to Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh.

These awards will be initiated in 2024 and are designed to recognize and honor scientists for their contributions in various fields, and they will be awarded in 13 domains, including physics, chemistry, biological sciences, mathematics, medicine, and more.

These awards aim to streamline and enhance the recognition of scientific achievements in India.
