Samsung Says 4G Phones Will Drive The Smart Devices

Samsung India Electronics stated , 18 February that smartphone sales in India is going to be lead by 4G connectivity.

The company’s director of mobile business, Manu Sharma Samsung-4Gsaid “This year smartphone sales in India would be driven by 4G connectivity. Nationally, Samsung has a 62 % market share in the 4G segment. However, our  focus would be on the Rs 20,000-35,000 price range.” 

Presently, Samsung is offering 18 4G-enabled handsets. It has also combined with Airtel for offering a 4G data offer to its customers where one can utilise up to 30GB data for six months. With respect to value, smartphone sales in India last year has grown 20 per cent. This year it is expected to grow by 16-18 per cent.  Mr Sharma pointed out that people today are changing phones every 16 to 18 months, this has gone down from 22 to 24 months two years back. There are also people who change phones every five to six months.

As per industry experts, India is among the fastest growing smartphone markets in the world. In 2015, almost 550 million feature phones were sold in India. On a national level, the company’s total market share is 45.9 per cent. The company also has a share of almost 43 per cent in the mobile phone industry including feature phones.
