After being initially listed as ‘coming soon’, the Samsung Gear Live is now up for pre-order at Rs. 15,900 via Google Play.

Google Play India has listed the new Android Wear-based Gear Live smartwatch with ‘Add to basket’option; however the listing clearly notes that the device will leave the warehouse in two to three weeks.

The LG G Watch, on the other hand, already went up for pre-order in the last week of June and is currently up for pre-order with ‘Add to Cart’ option at Rs. 14,999, while the device leaves the warehouse on July 8.

The new Android Wear smartwatches – the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live – are now also reportedly receiving a minor software update. Android Police notes that the updates for both the Gear Live and G Watch are now available and come with build number KMV78V. The new update is said to be a wearable-modified version of Android 4.4 KitKat and is labelled as version 4.4W for the smartwatches.

The report notes that the official changelogs are not available; however, claims the updates primarily bring some bug fixes for the G Watch and Gear Live.

One of the prominent fixes the update brings is for an issue on the Samsung Gear Live which inverts the colours of the watch face while the display automatically dims. The update reportedly can be installed via help of the paired handset.

Google earlier this week released the official Android Wear companion app, to enable users to manage their smartwatch from their Android phones. A dedicated Android Wear app section was also added to the Google Play Store, apart from Android Wear support in an updated version of Google Play Services.

Detailed specifications of the LG G Watch include a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor; an always-on 1.65-inch IPS (280×280 pixels) display; an IP67 rating with dust and water resistant; 4GB built-in storage, 512MB of RAM, a 400mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 9-axis sensor. It has dimensions of 37.9 x 46.5 x 9.95mm, and weighs in at 63 grams.

At Google I/O, one of the biggest news was Samsung joining forces with Google to launch its first Android Wear-based smartwatch, Gear Live. It seems to be very similar looking to the Gear 2 smartwatch launched earlier this year.

The Gear Live comes with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED (320×320 pixels) display; runs on a 1.2GHz processor coupled with 512MB off RAM; features 4GB of inbuilt storage, apart from Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. It is powered by a 300mAh battery; measures 37.9×56.4×8.9mm; and weighs 59 grams.
