Samsung Galaxy S8 Active appears online, to sport Snapdragon 835 SoC

South Korean tech giant Samsung is said to be working on a rugged version of its flagship Galaxy S8 smartphone. Likely to be called Galaxy S8 Active, the unannounced handset has now surfaced on benchmarking website Geekbench. Bearing model number SM-G892A, the device scored 1842 and 6394 in single-core and multi-core tests respectively.
As per the listing, Galaxy S8 Active will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and run Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
Recently, some images of the rumoured Galaxy S8 Active popped up online. In the images, listed on the Wireless Power Consortium website, the smartphone is clearly visible with a hard casing on the sides. Although it will make the Galaxy S8 Active resistant to drops, dust and water, the smartphone will most likely lose its signature dual-curved display because of that. That’s because the purported Galaxy S8 Active is shown in the image sporting a flat display. This means that the rugged variant of the Galaxy S8 could lose some of its features as well.
Recently, Samsung slashed the price of its Galaxy C9 Pro smartphone in India. Originally launched at Rs 36,900, the smartphone has got a price cut of Rs 5,000 and is now available at Rs 31,900. It can be purchased both on Samsung’s online store and Flipkart.
The Galaxy C9 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 SoC. It has a 6-inch Full HD display of 1080×1920 pixel resolution and weighs 189g. For imaging duties, the smartphone includes a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. There’s a 16MP unit on the front as well.
The dual-SIM C9 Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and offers 4G, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and Wi-Fi as connectivity options. It’s backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
