The update will soon be hitting the general public as well. “Android 7.0 Nougat official software version (BTU) has been distributed hence we are opening the new version first with the customers who participated in the Beta programme,” says a message received to beta testers. “New official software can be updated only by FOTA and please update to official version for using the service of Samsung electronics normally,” adds the message. The Android 7.0 Nougat OS version brings host of new features to the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. Besides a new user interface, the smartphones will be receiving all the goodies the new OS comes with including interactive notifications and improved Doze mode among others. Last month it was reported that the company may skip the 7.0 Nougat version in some regions and upgrade the two flagship handsets directly to Android Nougat 7.1.1. “I’ve checked in with the right people for you @chri5tin3 and @shauno100, and they’ve confirmed the references to Samsung skipping 7.0 refer to other markets and not to Australia. We’re definitely testing 7.0 for both devices,” confirmed Vodafone Australia representative in the company forum site. In addition, one of the Samsung beta testers few weeks back posted a screenshot that confirmed the v7.1.1 OS update. “We are pleased to announce that we will support Android 7.1.1 from the official N OS release,” said the note on the Samsung Beta Community. However, it looks like the South Korean tech company will be rolling out 7.0 Nougat before it brings 7.1.1 OS version to Galaxy S7 handsets.
