Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S Edge Prices Tipped Ahead of MWC Launch

Prices for the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6 and the curved-display variant Galaxy S Edge expected to launch at the South Korean giant’s Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event scheduled for March 1 have been tipped.

A European publication has tipped the prices for both the handset likely to launch at the pre-MWC Samsung event alongside hinting the inbuilt storage variants. The Galaxy S6 is said to come in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB inbuilt storage variants while the Galaxy S Edge is likely to come in just 64GB and 128GB models.

About the pricing, the Samsung Galaxy S6’s European prices are expected to start at EUR 749 (approximately Rs. 52,500) for the 32GB model, EUR 849 (approximately Rs. 59,500) for the 64GB model, and EUR 949 (approximately Rs. 66,500) for the 128GB model.

The Galaxy S Edge, similar on the lines of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and limited edition Galaxy Note Edge, will come at a premium price and will start at EUR 949 for the 64GB model and EUR 1049 (approximately Rs. 73,385) for the 128GB model.

Sammobile notes, “Mobile carriers will offer it to their customers at subsidized prices so majority of the customers won’t really be paying full price for their devices upfront.”

In the meanwhile, another report claims the Galaxy S Edge will also be launched in a 32GB variant, and feature a price tag of EUR 849 (roughly Rs. 59,500). This report corroborates the previous report’s pricing for the 64GB and 128GB versions.

Samsung this week started sending invites for its Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event scheduled for March 1 where the South Korean company is likely to launch the Galaxy S6 flagship and Galaxy S Edge, the curved-display variant of the flagship handset. The event might be weeks away and going by Samsung’s standards, any possible pricing of the next flagship will not be revealed until the handset hits the market shelves. We want to remind readers that nothing is official yet, and that all such leaks must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Based on previous leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to be a metal-clad smartphone that will not be dust or water-resistant. It is said to pack a 5-inch or 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, a 20-megapixel or 16-megapixel camera with OIS, and built-in wireless charging.

It might also be the first smartphone to support the as-yet-unannounced Samsung Pay NFC-based mobile payment service to rival Apple Pay.
