It is the time for waterproof devices to take over. After making the Samsung Galaxy S5 waterproof, the company is working to make its mini version also the same. According to a statement on Samsung New Zealand’s official website, the mini version of the recently launched Galaxy S5 will also be waterproof, like the original smartphone. This is one of the rare cases where the Korean electronics maker has confirmed the features of an unannounced product.

Apart from the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S4 Active also comes with IP67 certification, which means that the devices can withstand if they are submerged up to 1 metre deep in water for a period of 30 minutes. They are also resistant to dust.

Samsung New Zealand has mentioned that “submersion of the Samsung Galaxy S5, S5 Mini or S4 Active mobile phone in water for 30 minutes or more” will lead to the warranty being voided. This statement from the company suggests that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini will also be a water and dust-resistant smartphone.

If rumours are to be believed, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is likely to sport an 11.4-cm (4.5-inch) 720p screen and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. The device will pack 1.5GB RAM, Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system, 8MP rear camera, 16MB internal storage, microSD support and 2MP front camera.

It is also rumoured that the company is working on a camera-centric variant of Galaxy S5. Which is likely to be named as Galaxy K Zoom, along with a premium version with metallic body and higher-end specifications.
