Samsung Announces Gear VR headset @ Rs 8,200 In India

Samsung has also unveiled its Oculus-powered Gear VR Samsungheadset. The Gear VR looks pretty similar to its predecessor; however it comes with a redesigned trackpad for better controls. The Samsung Gear VR is priced at Rs 8,200 and will be available on select Samsung retail stores and on e-commerce site Filpkart.

Samsung claims that the devce delivers enhanced experience to users at the time of watching movies, 360 degree videos, games and other new content available for the headset. The company has also incorporated foam cushioning to make the device more comfortable for the user.

The headset is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones and is also 22% lighter as compared to the earlier edition. The Samsung Gear VR features a fixed lens with 96 degree of field view. It also features Accelerator, Gyrometer, Proximity sensors and will be available in Frost White colour options.

Speaking at the launch, Manu Sharma, director marketing, IT & Mobile Samsung India said, “The Gear VR presents the unique opportunity for customers to get an immersive, interactive virtual reality experience. Samsung will be at the forefront of this exciting revolution to create further ‘wow’ moments in our consumer lives.”

Along with the VR headset, the manufacturer has also launched its Gear S2 and Gear Classic smartwatches in India priced at Rs 24,300 and Rs 25,800 respectively. The devices will be exclusively available on Flipkart.
