Indian industry giant Reliance Group is launching its 4G service, Jio for its employees on the occasion of the birth anniversary of its founder chairman Dhirubhai Ambani, according to the sources.
According to inside sources the company is already giving out 4G SIMS to its employees.
The company has also been giving its employees an offer to buy two of Reliance LYF smartphones — LYF Earth and LYF Water at 25% discount. In the LYF range of smartphones, Earth is their flagship and most premium smartphone, followed by LYF Water.
Industry and company sources said Reliance, which aims to roll out India’s first national 4G service in the coming months, has been talking to groups including Gionee, Huawei and Xiaomi, as Chinese firms also seek a platform to build their presence in a lucrative and growing market like India.
The retail arm of Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Industries is also mulling partnership with e-commerce firms such as Amazon, eBay, Flipkart and Snapdeal to push its ‘Earth’, ‘Water’, ‘Wind’ and ‘Fire’ series of phones, according to people aware of the matter.
Also, if you search for a SIM network on a 4G ready smartphone like the iPhone 6, you will end up finding Reliance Jio network too. This means the network has been laid down and by the looks of it should be available early next year.
