Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan offer has TRAI’s approval: Report

The sector regulator Trai (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has examined the Reliance Jio’s new Dhan Dhana Dhan offer and found that the new offer is different from the Summer Surprise plan, according to a report by Financial Express.
Reliance Jio recently came up with its Dhan Dhana Dhan offer after the withdrawal of its Summer Surprise offer on April 6, after it was found not meeting the regulatory norms.
The Mumbai-based telco is likely to to get approval from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for its Dhan Dhana Dhan offer.
The The report said that TRAI is not of the view that this current offer is in violating of regulatory norms.” Summer Surprise was neither a tariff plan nor a promotional offer. It was a mix of two, which is not allowed, and hence TRAI stopped it,” said one of the sources cited by the report.
The new offer gives users 1GB data per day for Rs 309 and 2GB/day data on a payment of Rs 509 for 84 days for Prime members, who have paid Rs99 as a one-time fee.
Sunil Mittal-driven Bharti Airtel that has entered into a bitter spat with rival Jio from the time of its commercial foray in September 2016, had termed the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan plan similar to the Summer Surprise, calling it “old wine in a new bottle.”
