Redmi confirms the launch of the Note 12 Turbo in China this month – Will sport Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 12 series is about to expand with the addition of a new member, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. The series currently features the Note 12 5G, Note 12 Pro 5G, Note 12 Pro Plus 5G, and the Note 12 Pro Speed Edition in China. While an exact launch date for the new device is still unknown, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will debut in China later this month. It remains unclear whether the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will be released in other markets. As fans eagerly anticipate the new smartphone’s arrival, many are wondering what new features and capabilities the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will bring to the already impressive lineup.

As a brand-new upper mid-range smartphone, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will soon go on sale. With a new chip inside, the phone is likely to prioritise speed. Xiaomi has verified that a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC will power the Note 12 Turbo when it goes on sale.

The SoC, which is based on a 4nm process, was unveiled earlier this week. One prime processor running at 2.91GHz is part of the tri-cluster configuration. It has four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz and three speed cores running at 2.5GHz. A Processor called the Adreno 725 is also present. The SoC is advertised as having speed comparable to that of a flagship device while being about 50% more potent than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.

Xiaomi has not revealed any official information about its upcoming smartphone, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, however, rumours have surfaced with some key specifications of the device. According to sources, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, which will have a refresh rate of either 120Hz or 144Hz, as per different rumours. The screen is expected to be surrounded by thin bezels and have a hole-punch cutout at the top to accommodate the front camera.

The smartphone is rumoured to have a triple-camera setup on the back that could include a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. However, there is no information available about the sensor size or other camera details at this point.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to pack a powerful 5500mAh battery and support 67W fast charging. As for memory and storage, it is speculated to offer 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device will run on the latest Android 13 operating system, topped with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 14 user interface. It is not yet known when the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will launch in China, or whether it will be available in other markets.
