PM Modi launches Google Cloud-powered e-commerce app for cooperatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced an e-commerce application designed specifically for cooperatives. The app, created through a partnership between Google Cloud and the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), aims to provide cooperatives with a user-friendly and scalable technology platform to enhance their economic empowerment. The launch took place during the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress (ICC) held in New Delhi. The ICC, known as the premier platform for the Indian Cooperative Movement, coincides with International Cooperative Day and is being held at the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) in Pragati Maidan on July 1-2.

The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), which serves as the apex organization for the cooperative movement in India, has collaborated with Google Cloud to develop an e-commerce application for cooperatives. This partnership aims to provide a scalable and efficient platform hosted on Google Cloud for cooperatives to enhance their economic empowerment. The application will enable cooperatives to sell their products directly across different regions, eliminating the need for intermediaries. Additionally, the platform will offer training, capacity building support, and access to government welfare schemes, assisting cooperatives in areas such as packaging, branding, and market reach. The e-commerce app will serve as a common platform for cooperatives to showcase and sell their products and services to a larger audience. This collaboration between NCUI and Google Cloud is expected to foster economic growth, development, and promote fair competition in the market. By leveraging Google Cloud’s scalable and open-source technology, NCUI aims to support the digital transformation and economic empowerment of cooperatives and their members. As the user base and demands grow, the partnership with Google Cloud will provide the necessary technology solutions to meet these evolving needs.
