Oxford University Press launches ‘ Echoes- A course in Listening and Speaking’

Oxford University Press (OUP), the world’s largest university press launched ‘Echoes –A course in Listening and Speaking’, a ten level English course focused on everyday communicative functions.

Echoes Launch Based on the interactive approach, the course aims to develop the listening-speaking skills of the learners in a graded manner. Across the course, students learn to use language for a variety of purposes which provides successful and practical learning outcomes. This series is particularly useful to train students to use English for academic, social, and career purposes in the global sphere.

The launch workshop was conducted by Ms. Shefali Ray. Ms. Ray was faculty at the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), New Delhi. She is now ELT consultant, resource person and author for OUP India and IGNOU.

The workshop was an activity-based classroom teaching and learning process for the school teachers of Bangalore. Making use of interactive methods and techniques, it aims to develop speaking appropriately and to speak fluently. The workshop also focused on importance of linking grammar with communication and communicative functions in a graded manner. Teaching pronunciation of words , word stress , sentence stress, pauses in long utterances, intonation for different purposes were also been promoted during the session. More than 87 teachers from renowned schools such as National Public School, Delhi Public school, KLE group of schools and Sindhi High School participated in the workshop.
