IT Voice – As we see the market scenario, Optoma is striving for the top position in the projector market. What challenges do you foresee, and how do you plan to address them?
Vijay Sharma – Optoma has solidified its presence in the Indian market by offering cutting-edge products that deliver crystal-clear images in any environment and specially poised for large display requirements for its customers in India. Our recent launch of Interactive Flat Panel has received a great response and we see healthy growth rate for Optoma products cutting across all segments.
Indian market is price-sensitive nature in nature. To address this we are offering high-quality & value for money products that offer an unparalleled user experience. For instance, the introduction of the Wave series, an accessible home entertainment laser projector line, aims to deliver premium entertainment experiences to Indian consumers at a competitive price point.
The education and commercial projector market as seen degrowth, Optoma launched many new projectors in ProAV range and Software services to maintain and control large network of display by the name OMS and OSS. Both these products helped our partner to maintain a profitable business with Optoma.
In India, we successfully maintained our dominance in key segments, including 4K UHD, laser projectors, and laser TV projectors. Thanks to stellar performance in the home projector space, Optoma captured substantial market share, particularly in the 4K UHD category.
IT Voice -What motivated Optoma to establish an office in India and how does it align with the company’s long-term growth objectives?
Vijay Sharma – Optoma established a subsidiary in India in September 2024 to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing Indian market. With this we wanted to further the company’s commitment to deepening its local presence, enhancing market influence, and meeting customer needs more effectively.
By establishing a local subsidiary, Optoma aims to intensify its sales and service network in India, forge new alliances and partnerships, and explore manufacturing opportunities under the “Make in India” program. This initiative aligns with Optoma’s long-term growth objectives by expanding its footprint in key markets, supporting localized operations, and increasing market share and influence in the region.
IT Voice – What are your key priorities for retaining your market leadership by 2025?
Vijay Sharma – By 2025, Optoma aims to further expand its market share in core sectors such as home entertainment, professional audio-visual (Pro-AVI), and education. We anticipate strong demand for 4K resolution, laser projectors, and enhanced brightness to perform optimally in varying lighting conditions. We will also prioritize integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into our products to elevate the user experience. Key innovations will likely include automatic picture quality adjustments and environmental awareness features to optimize performance based on the surrounding conditions.
IT Voice – Could you share details about the new range of projectors Optoma will introduce in 2025?
Vijay Sharma – We take immense pride in being a leading brand in the projector space, consistently introducing pioneering technologies that outpace the competitor brands in the AV sector. Our latest innovation is the Optoma ZK810T, our first-ever eco-friendly high-end Pro-AV projector. This cutting-edge model boasts a full motorized lens shift, virtual maintenance-free operation, 8500-lumen 4K UHD DuraCore technology, and dust resistance, making it the ideal solution for diverse professional environments, including auditoriums, museums, and educational institutions.
We will be launching new projector models in Home space with industry leading colour reproduction capabilities, Optoma will also be launching 2-3 new models on portable projector segment including Ultra Short Throw models. In Mainstream its our endeavour to transform our entire product range to laser light source.

Optoma’s DuraCore laser technology projectors deliver a truly immersive experience, making them ideal for both professional and home environments. These projectors are engineered to produce stunningly realistic images, with a remarkable lifespan of up to 30,000 hours in ECO mode or 20,000 hours in light mode, all while maintaining consistent brightness levels. Featuring an optical motor with dust resistance and IP5X or IP6X certification, these projectors ensure exceptional reliability with virtually no maintenance, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership. Unlike traditional lamps, the DuraCore laser system preserves its brightness and color accuracy throughout its entire lifespan, without the gradual decline typical of conventional lighting technologies
