Oppo A71 (3GB) with AI Beauty recognition launched at Rs 9,990

Oppo has launched a new budget smartphone called the Oppo A71 in the market but with 3GB RAM. Although the company has already launched the handset with nearly the same set of specifications in the country back in September, what’s new in this device is that it now has an AI-based Beauty Technology to enhance selfie shots. The processor too has been changed from MediaTek to Qualcomm Snapdragon.

The handset will be available in Gold and Black colour variants and will be priced at Rs 9,990. The device can already be purchased from e-commerce website such as Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal.

The handset maker, with the A71, is betting big on artificial intelligence for selfie shots, tech that we have seen in some other handsets by the company as well. The AI is claimed to capture over 200 facial features, making face recognition accurate. It also helps in retouching the face while taking shots from the front-facing camera. The handset is also said to self-learn and identify different skin textures and tones, age and gender to enhance the selfie experience.
While the previous variant was based on MediaTek M6750 processor, the new model runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 clocked at 1.8GHz. Oppo claims that the average speed of opening an app is 12.5% faster.Rest of the specifications remain the same as the last year’s A71(3GB) version.

The smartphone offers 16GB internal storage and a 3000mAh battery. In terms of camera, the device has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing camera. It has dual-sim card functionality and offers Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi as connectivity options.

With 2018, Oppo seems to keep its focus on the budget smartphone segment in India. Last month it introduced Oppo A83 in the country priced at Rs 10,999.
