‘OnePlus 5’ wallpaper rumoured to hint at new OnePlus 3T colour variant

If you thought that the new ‘Never Settle’ wallpaper, recently ‘shared’ on Twitter by popular leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) indicated that the upcoming OnePlus 5 may come with a Full HD resolution display, you might want to hold on to that though for now. It is now being said that the wallpaper is actually a hint towards a new colour variant for the company’s current flagship – 3T.
Although Evan Blass has said nothing more about the post, a thread of tweets between David Ruddock (managing editor of Android Police website) and OnePlus CEO Carl Pei somewhat confirms the arrival of a new colour variant.
“@getpeid I hear OnePlus could have a dark announcement some time soon. That it might even be as Black as Midnight?,” tweeted Ruddock to which Pei replied with a gif almost confirming the rumour.
Cam Bunton, contributing editor of Pocket Lint website confirmed in a tweet that the wallpaper was not from the OnePlus 5, as OnePlus 3T users already have access to it.
Based on above information, it can be assumed that OnePlus 3T could come in a Jet Black colour variant. The 3T already comes in two colours – Soft Gold and Gunmetal. The dual-SIM supporting flagship smartphone has a 5.5-inch Full HD resolution Optic AMOLED display. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. There are two internal storage options available – 64GB and 128GB.
OnePlus 3T has a 16MP primary camera with a Sony IMX298 sensor and LED flash. It also boasts of features like Optical Image Stabilization, Electronic Image Stabilization and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). Some of the other features include Auto HDR, Dynamic denoise and Manual mode.
Interestingly, it’s the front camera that has received an upgrade. The OnePlus 3T comes with a 16MP front-facing snapper having a Samsung sensor. The camera has PDAF and is capable of recording Full HD videos. In comparison, the OnePlus 3 has an 8MP front-facing shooter.
