OnePlus has already confirmed that it will be bringing Android 8.0 Oreo to its flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5. However, it did not reveal as to when exactly it will be rolling out the new version. But it looks like the Chinese tech firm will soon be bringing the beta version of Android O for users.
As spotted on the Geekbench, a benchmarking website, OnePlus 5 is seen listed with Android 8.0.0 Oreo. Someone tested the 6GB RAM model of the OnePlus 5, which got 1837 score and 6085 scores in single and multi core tests.OnePlus has not yet mentioned what new features it will bring with Android 8.0 Oreo. However, one can at least expect the native features of the OS such as native picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, smart text selection, better battery life, pinning app shortcuts and redesigned Emoji characters.
Talking about OS updates, OnePlus, a few days back rolled out its OxygenOS 4.5.0 OS update to OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T devices over-the-air (OTA). The update brings some of the features that OnePlus 5 comes with. Some UI changes and improvements in the battery’s performance have also been made. The update however, does not bring Android O onboard and stays with Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
The OxygenOS 4.5 comes with a host of system-level upgrades. The OS version adds the lift up display feature, Gaming Do not Disturb mode, low priority notification and network speed in the status bar. It also brings along the option to schedule Night mode and the OnePlus Slate font. The Dash Charge animation is now redesigned and several other stability and battery improvements have also been made as a part of OxygenOS 4.5.
With the new OTA update, OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T users will be able to use the Shot on OnePlus wallpapers. As for the user interface design, OxygenOS 4.5 brings a new calling UI and a redesigned photo editor in the Gallery. Secure Box in the File Manager also comes as a part of the update.
