ODG R-7 Smart Glass Revealed, Running On Qualcomm Vuforia For Digital Eyewear Platform!

ITVoice News: The future of wearables and the destiny of the wearables’ market are not very certain among experts but smart glasses seem to be holding better prospects than smartwatches. Here comes a new smartglass – ODG R-7 – which has been launched as a member of the Vuforia for Digital Eyewear (VDE) platform by Qualcomm.

LOVb124847PM9192014 This platform offers some new capabilities  for “augmented reality”, which means that  developers need not worry about their  own system for syncing content from a VR  headset to the real world. This VDE  platform makes this process simpler. ODG  R-7 is wireless with 3D stereoscopic see-  through HD displays and the group inside  it is called Osterhout Design Group. These  glasses are different from Google  Cardboard or Samsung Gear VR as these glasses don’t require any smartphone connection. They are self-contained in themselves.

The processor being Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC running at 2.7 Ghz, the wearable looks fascinating and its RAM is somewhere between 1 to 4 GB along with 16 to 128 GB storage. There are two 720p LCoS displays and one 5MP camera on the front. The Android version in it is called ReticleOS which is an “optimised” Android framework made for head-worn computing and it’s built on Android KitKat. Through the VDE platform support, lots of games and software can get included in the smart glass which already offers 3 accelerometers, 3 gyroscopic sensors and 3 magnetometer sensors. It also features a pressure sensor and a humidity sensor to boot.
