Nvidia Has Finally Introduced Shield Portable Gaming Console, The Shield Tablet

hdIP51151PM7232014Nvidia has finally introduced the much-awaited and much-hyped successor to its Shield moveable gaming comfort, the Shield tablet. ‘Built specifically for gamers’, the Nvidia Shield tablet is now up for pre-order at a price range starting at $299 (16GB Wi-Fi only version). The company is also planning to launch a 32GB Wi-Fi/LTE version later at $399.

The Nvidia Shield tablet features a 20.32-cm (8-inch) display with a 1920×1200 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 2.2GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset (192-core Kepler GPU, and a 4+1 quad-core ARM Cortex A15 CPU) coupled with 2GB of RAM. The device comes with an extension slot (up to 128GB) via microSD card. The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. It also allows for streaming of games from a PC desktop/notebook computer/Nvidia cloud. Nvidia’s Twitch integration that will let players record/broadcast gameplay to the streaming service.

“If you’re a gamer and you use a tablet, the Nvidia Shield Tablet was created specifically for you,” Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia’s co-founder and chief executive officer was quoted as saying. “It delivers exceptional tablet performance and unique gaming capabilities to keep even the most avid gamers deeply immersed, anywhere they play.” he added.
