Nokia 8 smartphone starts receiving Android 8.1 Oreo update

It’s confirmed, Nokia 8 is finally getting Android 8.1 Oreo update. The company’s chief product officer Juho Sarvikas confirmed the rollout via a Twitter post. “We are rolling out #Android Oreo 8.1 on #Nokia8 ! Get the sweetest Android to date #Nokia8 #Nokia mobile,” wrote Sarvikas in the post.

The flagship smartphone from HMD Global is the first from the company is the first non-Google device to get Android 8.1 Oreo update. The Nokia 8 smartphone received Android 8.0 Oreo update sometime in December 2017. Earlier this year, the company released a beta test programme for the smartphone.

According to reports quoting screenshot of the change log shared by the users online, the update weighs 1.6GB and carries the build number V4.84A.

Nokia 8 was launched in September last year and is HMD Global’s most-expensive smartphone so far. The smartphone launched running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.

Nokia 8 runs on Qualcomm’s flagship processor Snapdragon 835. The dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone sports a 5.3-inch display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. There’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB on board storage, expandable up to 256GB.

On storage front, the smartphone has a dual-rear camera setup with two 13-megapixel image sensors. In the front too, there’s 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. With camera being one of the highlights of the smartphone, all three cameras feature Carl Zeiss Optics.

Nokia 8 has an IP54-rating, which means that the smartphone can withstand splashes.
